Janet K. James, R.EEG.T,
R.NCS.
Janet’s technologist career began in the mid-1980s, with “on-the-job training” in EEG and NCSs, supplemented with continuing education
through ASET or AAET. “I wish I could have attended a formal END training program,” she stated. “It’s essential for technologists
and physicians to perform quality studies, and it’s especially important for our patients. Unfortunately, because of limited END schools
and training programs, there is a shortage of qualified techs.”
“Education is key, and I believe the AANEM will have a tremendous influence in making this happen,” Janet concluded. She sees “great educational opportunities, physician support for our field, and
national recognition for what we do,” as benefits to joining AANEM. “These
physicians are giving us a voice.”
Now an independent contractor, Janet has worked for the last 17 years in Fort Walton Beach, FL, at White-Wilson Medical Center, a multi-specialty clinic, and at the hospital. “I work with four
wonderful neurologists,” she said, “Drs. Gregory J. Piacente, Judy L. White, Bruce V. Ouellette, and Fred E. Aubert, Jr., who also is PMR
trained.” Dr. Aubert recently became an AANEM member. |
